Morrison was a poet but remember that some of their biggest songs were written by Robbie Krieger .i.e Light my fire , Love me two times , Touch me, love her madly , wishful sinful etc...... People tend to forget or not know this .
But Jim was special. He wrote of american dreams and experiences like Dylan . I don't think he was close to Dylan though, as a writer who could write images. Dying young tends to make people think of you in a special way just like how people rate Lennon above McCartney .
