Will singing lessons make my voice sound better?!

Question: ok, i feel that i don't sound good recorded, and i know that is probably what other people hear. i CAN carry a tune, it's just that my voice just sounds weird to ME. will vocal lessons make my voice sound like the one i hear inside my head when i talk to others? or maybe even better?

overall, i guess i'm asking, "will vocal lessons change the sound of my voice?"

I'm in vocal ensemble at my high school and so I may be able to answer this one. A lot of people don't really like the sound of their voice when it is recorded because it is sort of awkward, whether you are singing or just talking. Sometimes, I'll sing and I think it sounds really good, but when I record it, I allow myself to be more skeptical, and that's probably why you don't think you sound good recorded. Yet, you probably sound pretty good to others. Anyways, you know you can sing, so that's a good start. I am confident if you get some vocal training, your singing voice won't change, but the quality of your voice and your range, among other things, will improve. Practice makes perfect really. Good luck.

thats the advice they give to american idol contestants who are marginally good

I used to teach singing lessons in highschool. The most important aspect of lessons is breathing techniques. It will let you hold a note longer, stronger and more clearly. However, the voice we hear in our heads is NEVER the true sound that comes out of our mouths because we hear perfect pitch in acoustics in our heads. I think that if you have a strong singing voice to begin with, you can improve it to an extent, gain more knowledge of power, nasalness, head and throat voice, which will give you more choices in how you sing. BUT if you do not have a voice to begin with, singing lessons won't create one for you, just give you the ability to do more with what you already have.

well they will change the way u sing but not the way u talk normallu

Thanks for your answer to my question. I think that voice lessons can improve an already good voice, but will not do magic. I hope you are not tone deaf...because if you are, then singing might not be for you.
Best of Luck!

Yes I believe they will. You will receive instruction on proper breathing and muscle usage while singing. They also help your to sing within your key not like the artists you try to imitate. Vocal instructors do much more than make you sound good, they teach you how to continue doing it and keep your vocal cords healthy at the same time.

Good Luck!

It depends, I mean lessons can only do so much. They're more or less there to help you along, they can't change your voice. So give it a shot to see if it helps...

A good teacher can do amazing things. Your voice won't change, but they'll be able to nurture the best parts of your voice. Your voice comes from your entire body, not just your throat or your head or whatever, and a good teacher can train you in how to make the most of what you have. I sang with a woman whose teacher had her lift weights so that she'd have the strength to sing certain notes.

One thing you'll notice about singers is that their speaking voice is much fuller than others. If I sing every day for six months, I have a ton more confidence speaking. If I have to give a talk or do something that makes me nervous, I "warm up" by singing in my car.

Music lessons also teach you to be careful and teach good discipline. If you can afford and and are willing to put the effort in, I think it would be worth it.

They will improve it, but "you can't make a silk purse out of a sow's ear", so If you don't have the raw material, don't bother. Afterwards, get assessed elsewhere, or try comps.

It very well could. For some people it works for some it doesnt it depends on your teahcer and the lessons you will do. I know people who have failed singing lessons and people whose voices got better.

Hope it helps

Your voice will sound smoother. But your voice well not change.

EDIT:This answer might help alot

singing lessons won't change the sound of your voice, it just improves your tone and your voices willingness to change pitch.

if you suck though; you're still going to suck even with singing lessons.
