Why does everyone make such a big deal about "scene" or "emo"!
Question: its so stupid. no one bothers gothic people or preps or any other stereotype.
first of all: its retarted how people say "oh they are crowding up the music section with their emo music. you dont have to answer if u dont like it. and if it bothers u that it is there, ask some more questions about the music u like so theirs will go to the bottom faster
second: these kids are just normal people. they eat and breathe and go to the bathroom like the rest of us. i know some people act like they are depressed, but u dont have to laugh at them for all u know, they could be and need help. have a little compassion for gods sake
finally third: no one is telling u how to run ur life. these kids can listen to mcr and fob or whoever if they want to. they can cry about their lives or say their sayings like "xomgx, ximx xsuffocatingx xcuzx xurx xnotx xbyx xmyx xsidex xtonightx" (not that anyone actually says that lolz). u can live ur life however u want to.so lets all respect eachother!!!!

Well, to be honest, I've never really had a problem with emo people. I think their style is sort of cool.They've always kinda reminded me of an over-glamorized version of goth, but w/e. I guess people always criticize whatever is against society's norms or whatever isn't mainstream. Even though I like the style, I absolutely detest the attitude. I mean some emo people make such big deals out of the stupidest stuff!! You never hear any emos saying " oh no, oil prices have risen to 100 dllrs a barrel " or " o gee's global warming is melting the polar ice caps " There are real issues to concern ourselves with!!!! i.e. The Elections, the US's economic recession, the war in Iraq, global warming, the health care crisis, our failing schools, America's obesity problem, etc... But no, you don't ever hear emo kids complaining about these issues on myspace do you?? W/e Emo is just a phase. You haven't ever seen a 30 year old emo person have you? I really haven't ever bashed any emo kids either, its senseless, lol. Its kinda ironic though, the "scene" kids at my school are much more exclusive than the "preps". If you dont like the same music or you dont dress like them, they won't like you and will probably be rude to you. At least we "preppy people" (people call us that, we dont label ourselves, cuz like that girl said, its for posers) would be nicer to you than they would. But yeah, people should just respect each other in general no matter what you look like : )
Sorry to tell you this, but people DO make fun of the other groups. You may be too young to remember but the goths and the punks caught their fair share of bashing. For me it's not so much that they are in the section, but that they ask the same questions over and over. A great majority of the stuff they post is the kind of things that are more suited for fan boards and certain band forums. Plus, the different factions of people (goths, punks, preps, emos, metalheads) have always hated each other and always will.
On your last point, respect is something that is earned from me, not given. I also, have no problem with people that listen to MCR (I actually have some albums myself) or FOB, I have a problem with obsessive fans that only post silly stuff about them ALL THE TIME. I like that you asked this question though, I think it's good for everybody to vent sometimes.
People make a big deal because they are so unsecure with their own life and their values/morals/ethics they have to push them on other people who they feel don't have the same morals/values/ethics based on their appearence.

honestly. does it really matter? should you hate somebody for the way they dress? the music they listen to? the way they feel about themselves? no not at all. yeah you may not dress the same, like the same music, feel the same way about certain things but that's not a reason to hate someone. people hating somebody just because they are of a certain stereotype is ridiculous. why do you think this world is full of so much hate? people don't tolerate others. whether it be races, religions, beliefs, or stupid unncessary stereotypes, people are cruel. don't hate somebody for something that in the end, makes no difference in your life whatsoever. how they dress and the kind of music they like won't dramatically effect your life. it's how they are as a person, how they treat YOU how they make YOU feel. that's what really matters.
I think you dont know what a gothic person is. My Chemical Romance and AFI are definetally not gothic. Gothic people listen to Skinny Puppy and Type O Negative.
But now that Im done with that, I kinda know what you mean. When I was 15 the whole nu-metal thing was the scene, and I was walking around with different color spiked hair, chains and spiked everywhere, wearing nothing but black every day. And people didnt understand why we did the things we did except fellow metalheads. That was the scene a few years back for teenagers and I guess the new scene is emo.
Understanding however isnt tolerating, and I dont have to like you just because I know where your coming from. As you can see from my first comment, I dont really like emo kids...you literally just told me that emo kids cry about their problems, but I fail to see what problems. You have alot of homework? Your parents who give you rides to and from school, who jujst bought you tons of Christmas gifts, and give you food and clothes dont love you? You dont know what problems are kid, you wont know until you graduate and move out on your own. Thats why alot of people dont like emo kids
i myself make fun of preps still, so its not just emo's getting made fun of. Honestly i still havent heard many people make fun of emo. Ive maybe heard them being made fun of twice- the others get made fun of all the time.

Personally I don't see it as any different from any other group. People who think it's cool to like the Bealtes make the same pointless redundant posts that the people who like My Chemical Romance do, and the people who like Led Zeppelin, and the people who like the Ramones etc. etc. ad nauseum. In fact a lot of times I end up taking the side of the emo kids just because it does seem like the backlash against them is usually unfair, considering (as I said) that many many other fans of other bands make the same inane comments with little to no one pointing it out. In fact if you want to make it general, the "classic rockers" probably make more posts I consider annoying than the "emos". We get it, Led Zeppelin and the Beatles are the best band ever, move on.
So what annoys me is anyone posting anything that isn't genuinely their own opinion, which happens with fans of any genre, people read/hear/see other peoples' opinions and decide it sounds cool and so they'll copy and paste it everywhere. The problem is that emo has a largely very young fanbase, and very youn people are very impressionable, so you get more people making comments that aren't well thought out or original than people making intelligent/articulate comments. Whereas the Beatles have been a rock 'n' roll favorite for 40+ years and intelligent people have good arguments for why they're so great. So what needs to be done is for the more thoughtful emo fans to make sure to stay reasonable and get their opinions out there, everytime someone says "you suck" or "go to hell" or "you're a poophead" emo loses a little bit more potential for being respected. But this answer is getting way too long and probably redundant, I think I got my point across, I'll stop here.

I've said it before and I'll probably say it again, My Chemical Romance isn't nearly as terrible as most people would have you think, and it's just as bad that every hops on the "MCR sUcKs!!1!" trains as it is for people to jump on the "McR RuLeS!!!1" bandwagon. Their biggest prroblem is that they're too dramatic, otherwise thy can be alright.
I make emo jokes, I won't lie. But I make jokes about all other groups, my main target is usually myself...because I always know something about myself to make fun of and I really don't get embarrassed by stuff like that.
Emo kids tend to be, well, emotional. People like to attack people that are already emotional, and plus a lot of people think the styles they wear are just ridiculous, the reason goths don't get it (well at least where i am from) is because all the goths died out and most of them are no longer "different" or they went to the emo side.
But I know where you are coming from because I listen to lots of emo music. But honestly I couldn't care less if people don't like it or make fun of me for it. It is what I like and what makes me happy, and that s all that matter.

I think emo kids are pretty cool cause they can show their individuality without giving a damn what everyone else says, I may be emo in a sense because I get depressed, but I don't dress like it, and I care too much..oh yeah and I don't cut myself [lol jk some emo kids don't cut themselves, I know]
ur rite, i think emo's take the most mocking and insulting these days, nobody really cares about the goths or punks anymore, it's like they got bored and wanted to mock some other group, it's crazy! my friends used to mock me because i was kind of emo and after i stopped being emo they stopped mocking me, it was so unfair! emo's shouldn't have to take any mocking, they just dress different, why can't people see that, my rant is over...haha

I don't have any issues with emos mainly because they did nothing to me. I do have issues though with scenesters...and not just "emo" sceneters, but any scenester. A lot of scenesters can invade bands once they release a new album that appeal to them.
