The best way is to find the advertisements section of your local newspaper. Look for any mentioning of bands. Also check out to see if their might be any local profit or non profit papers that write about the local music scene, because sometimes they will have people looking for other people to start a band. If there are none you could place an add requesting your specific needs. You could also try to to go hang out at places with musicians like college campuses and coffee shops ask around if anyone would be willing to start a band. Be ready to showcase your talents though and have a pitch for what kind of sound you're after. Also a word to the wise seeing as many bands start but never finish with the exact same line up, so make sure if you are starting a band or joining a band that they are people you can really get along well with or otherwise it won't work out. And don't forget it does no good to not just ask around about others who play instruments, like friends and family. So good luck and I hope to hear your band soon on the radio.
Go to my school. There's so many random instrument players who want to be in a band...
ask people you knoe who play drums bass and guirta or wut and set up like gigs
you can play at a school talent show if thats the age groupo you are in
thats how my best friends band started
and now everyone around schools knows em
they even played at drug free arizona and had a US airways gig
Put an advert in the paper for a drummer, a bass player, and a lead guitar and buy a mic :)) or write to take that and ask do they want a 5th member. :))
You have to present your band in small places or free presentations somewhere. If you still being in college, present it in talent shows to get the respect of your schoolmates .So then you will get your band famous by many people, so then an important man would discuss with you to sign a contract
Get some friends who play instruments and have some jam sessions
Hit some local open mics and see who's around.
Put ads in the local papers, on bulletin boards in music stores, etc, saying you wanna start a band & am looking for serious musicians who wanna start a garage band & make it to the top-good luck. (that's how I started out)
