Problem with the g-string on my guitar?!

Question: i have an epiphone g-400 sg, and since the day i bought it, the g-string doesnt stay in tune, and has very little sustain in comparison to all other strings. the guitar has been set up five times by four different luthiers, but the gstring never gets fixed i guess. how do i fix it? or is the guitar just bad news.

hey dude . i don't completely understand the problem.. is the string going sharp?? or flat?? if it is going sharp it is a problem with the string binding at the nut. that can be fixed with a little graphite for lube .. if the string is going flat is it slipping on the post. try winding more string on the post as you tune it .. when it is changed. or the best thought trade it in on a esp viper 200 or 400 you will be happy with those

g-strings belong elsewhere:O

be sure the string is stretched out...that's the first step

Well, if a luthier can't fix it, then I dunno. SG's are cool though--even the epiphones.

I would say it either needs a new nut, new bridge, or new tuning key. A guitar repair tech would have caught that probably unless they are not that reputable. Epiphones are kinda cheap anyway.

I had a problem with the G-string on my wife once, but I just took it off and played without it.

If a luthier couldnt do it then its a hardware problem. If playing an electric check the saddles and if playing an accoustic check both the height of the bridge and the bridge pins themselves.
