Question: The day's last one-way ticket train pulls in
We smile for the casual closure capturing
There goes the downpour
There goes my fare thee well

There's really no way to reach me
There's really no way to reach me
There's really no way to reach me
'Cause I'm already gone

There's so many words that we can say
Spoken upon long-distance melody
This is my hello
This is my goodness

There's really no way to reach me
There's really no way to reach me
There's really no way to reach me
'Cause I'm already gone

Maybe in five or ten yours and mine will meet again
Straighten this whole thing out
Maybe then honesty need not be feared as a friend or an enemy
But this is the distance
And this is my gameface

There's really no way to reach me
There's really no way to reach me
Is there really no way to reach me?
Am I already gone?
So this is your maverick
And this is Vienna

And this is Vienna

i think they mean that ... they broke up and he has finally gotten over her ... but she wants to get back together

it means he killed himself

It's a guy with multiple personalities talking to himself over a meat-lover's pan pizza.

I think its talking about someone who moves away and they say there's no way to reach them wherever they go

He moved away.

Umm...it means Maverick and Vienna are going to part from each other and they are sad...

I absolutely love this song. I think it is about a break up or a relationship that has gone south and the only way for him to feel better is to move on, and move away where the person he is running from can't reach him anymore. The video is absolutely amazing if you haven't seen it yet. It helps to see the video because it kinda explains everything.

It means that he moved away somewhere that the other person probably can't reach him at.

That means; That's it I am done I give up... My mind is set. Nothing you can say will change it!

To me, this song is about an impossible relationship that the two people tried desperately to MAKE possible.

The author, who is leaving, has become tired of trying to work it out: "there are only so many words that we can say", but also knows that there isn't really a "fare thee well" either.. there just isn't a way right now to make it work out. The reference to Maverick, to me, means that the author wanted to break free of the mold, make the relationship work despite all the barriers that were in the way, but the other just couldn't do it. But he is still hopeful. He offers that his leaving is also "my hello" and "my goodness" meaning that the door isn't really closed either... hence the bridge talking about 5 or 10 years.. when they are older, they won't run from the simple truth of their love.

To me the whole thing has to do with the last 2 lines. A maverick is someone who rejects the norms or the powers that be. A dissenter. Vienna is where the Christians of Europe held off the Muslim armies of the mid east waaaaaaay back (ottomans, maybe. Not an expert on this stuff). Anyway, essentially the song is akin to Tracy Chapman's give me one reason. He's looking for her to fight for him. "This is Vienna" is telling her its her one chance to stand up and show him she really wants him to stay. He's the Maverick, because if she fights for it, he will too. That's what I see anyway.

I also think that the stuff about already being gone is what he's trying to tell himself because he doesn't believe she's going to make that stand. Thats why he talks about his gameface. Thats him steeling himself so he can act like he's not hurt when she doesn't.

I would think it meant that he had to part with her though he was reluctant. He wanted to stay with her.
