I agree with you about Mos Def, he can really act. Plus, he's chosen some roles that have a bit more integrity about them than say Are We There Yet (ahem!). Stuff like The Woodcutter - I respect him for taking risks like that.
Mos Def is a great actor buuuuut...
I'm gonna go with Will Smith, first off I think I am the only one who likes and respects the fresh prince as a rapper in RHH and second he is no doubt the best MC to actor. Just movies, not even counting the Fresh Prince of Bel-Air he had movies like enemy of the state, iRobot, pursuit of happyness, men in black, and now of course I am legend... the guy has a ton of talent as both a rapper and an actor
edit: oh man i forgot the Bad Boys movies, Hitch, Independance Day, Ali, and The Wild Wild West
the dude is maybe the only MC who could have an acting career without his rapping career
Queen Latifah and Ice Cube
My favorite and most sucessful artist to do that is Will Smith. He has won a Grammy, been nominated for an Oscar twice and is the King of Blockbusters. He has the biggest weekend opening for a December release ever with the movie, "I Am Legend".
I dont have to remind you one of the best tv sitcoms of all time.
Ice Cube for me. From the gherri curls in Boyz in the Hood, to the family man in Are We There Yet!

i would say mos def..he was awsome in 16 blocks, but u also have ice cube, ice t, queen latifia, tupac, tyrese. LL cool J, there is a whole bunch or rappers who are in the big screen and they do both, omarian, bow wow, snoop dogg, chris brown, marcus houston, method man, red man
