Hallelujah is a classic song by Leonard Cohen.... he's basically the Canadian version of Bob Dylan. Other notable covers of the song include versions by k.d. Lang, Jeff Buckley, Willie Nelson, Bow Jenkins, and John Cale. Cohen has consistently added and rearranged verse in his own performances of the song, and most of the people who cover it, including Wainright leave out my favourite verse, which can be found on the CD Various Positions.

To me the song is not actually so much about love, as it is a reflection of love that allows us to see that which normally blinds us. "Love is not a vict'ry march / it's a cold and it's a broken Hallelujah" almost seems to remind us that taking love for granted- for not working at love, but instead casting it aside when it becomes difficult- is much akin to mankind's propensity to pray to the heavens in their respective deities name, only to curse him/her when things don't go their way. Love is not about everything being alright, any more than life is about a higher power clearing the path for every obstacle.

That's why I like the seldom heard last verse:

"And even though it all went wrong / I'll stand before the Lord of Song / with nothing on my tongue / but Hallelujah."

Ignoring the possible religious implications, it seems to remind me that even if I fail at love... even if I can't make things work out the way that would satisfy both of us, love is still ultimately the most important thing, and my mistakes can do nothing to take that away, as long as it continues to sing inside my being.

Yea I dont understand either , hey u cute btw ;)
