Question: my favorite music is dance and electronica and i wanted to see if i could do it myself and start. Are there any books i could read on becoming a DJ...also does anyone know what a laptop DJ is? If so what are the benefits? Are there any good starting packages available for wanting to be a DJ?

Reading a book about DJing probably won't help you much. You should try to get a DVD. You can usually find them at DJ record stores or on line. They usually go throug the basics up to the more advance stuff. A laptop DJ are DJs who no longer buy individual records to mix. They now buy cds, cd compliations(cds with various remixes of songs) or downloaded songs and file them in the laptop. You then use a program such as Scratch live and mix the songs found in your laptop. This much cheaper and lighter.
my brother was a dj and all i know is that it was very expensive.
i would recommend a macbook pro. check out the website for software and such.
