Should have Dave Grohl stayed a DRUMMER ?!

Question: Dave Grohl - Singer and guitarist of Foo Fighters was also the Drummer for Nirvana. He was a BRILLIANT! drummer!

I know he has done drumming with bands like QOTSA.. But do you think he permanently should have stayed a drummer after Nirvana ?

PS - I HAD PROBLEM STRUCTURING THE QUESTION.. FOR SOME REASON.. CAN SOMEONE REPHRASE THE QUESTION MAKE SENSE :s

he was and still is an excellant drummer

but i think he done the right thing fronting a band he is a good front man and if he stayed a drummer i dont think he would have got the fame he has now

Nah, I think he's a great lead for the Foo Fighters....great drummer, too, but I like him the way he is now.

I think he is an excellent drummer as well as a singer so I don't see why he shouldn't do both.

yeah he should of stayed being a drummer he is a crap singer

lol..."Should Dave Grohl have remained a drummer?"...wow, I have trouble phrasing that too :) I like his frontman stuff...but you're absolutely right...he is a kick A drummer!

No problem with the question.

The answer: Hell Yes!!!! (he shoulda stayed a drummer)

I know that it was commerically prudent to make Grohl as the frontman who sings (actually he has a powerful voice) so as to use his prowess of being in Nirvana to cross over to the Foo Fighters.

However, looking at things as a musician and lover of music. It his priorities are misplaced as he gives a better offering as a drummer. In other words, being a drummer would be a move for great music, where front man would be for the $$ and maybe some great music.

I will have to add as one gets older to bang heavy and constant like Dave Grohl (he gave 110% when he sat behind the kit) it becomes difficult. Playing drums at high intensity is like running a marathon.

I guess for now, we will have to settle for his sit-ins with the "Queens of the Stone Age." I have heard that at a couple of Foo Fighter shows Krist Novoselic would show-up and Dave would switch to drums and play some Nirvana.

No I think hes fine now. He has a great singing voice for the style of music that the Foo Fighters play. I'm glad he still does drumming for other small gigs though. He is one of the most talented musicians of the generation and its great to see that he uses all of his talent. He's also a comedian lol, when you watch him do interviews and just watch the Foo Fighters videos, you can see hes a funny guy with a good sense of humor

DG: Should he have stuck to drumming?

go back to drumming well he should

drums are better then guitar

I'm not sure really. I would say no to be honest. I think he is a great frontman for the Foo's. The foo fighters wouldn't be as good live if he was on the drums.
