I think that electric guitar is better for girls than accoustic because it's easier to find a smaller one [if you happen to be small like myself]. It's definitely not just a boy thing. Music is lovely, there aren't really gender biased instruments.
Although, more boys play than girls, it's perfectly fine if a girl plays. It's pretty damn cool to see a confident girl performing.
