I've been thinking of getting a bass guitar but i've never played before!

Question: If you have NEVER played bass or guitar before, and you wish to get a bass to start with, with out going broke:

1. Squire P-bass. (owened by fender) NEW,Under $200.
2. Fender Mexican P-bass. Used on e-bay. Under $300.
3. SX P-bass or SX J-bass (e-bay) Brand new, under $200.

Then if you quit or do not like it any more, give it away or trash it. If you continue to play, an upgrade of the same bass would be easy for you will be quite used to the feel.
The Fender P-bass is copied by EVERYONE.

"DO NOT BUY A $99 PIECE OF JUNK" You will hate it and it will not be easy to play. Don't buy it at MEIJER.

Ibanez makes some cheap entry level basses. (they are just that)
The Mexican made Fender Precision bass is a good quality, nice playing bass and very cheap if you get one off of e-bay.

I own four basses.

Peavey T-20, USA made (kind of p-bass looking) bass. $175 Used, e-bay

ESP LTD C-304 Active 4 string. Brand new, e-bay, $550
$990 on the street

Hamer Cruise Bass 4, (FenderJazz bass copy) Converted to fretless, USA Made, $1500 new, used on e-bay= $450.

My own P-bass creation of pieces and parts bought from e-bay. (Fender Precision bass clone) $200 to build myself. It is most sweet. I love the fender p-bass. It is simple, easy, and practical.

Click "P-bass" on e-bay and you will find hundreds of basses to chose from.

if you mean you've never played a guitar before, i'd suggest a classical guitar to begin with. less painful with nylon strings and you won't get problems with the wide fretboard. don't get something too expensive since you're probably going to upgrade to an acoustic guitar once you get better. of course, you could always start with an acoustic guitar like i did, and learn it the hard way :)

samick is a good choice,or ibanez makes good entry level
