I don't hate Lupe. He is a good artist and has good music. However, I was disappointed with the whole ATCQ fiasco......lol...maybe some people hate him cuz off all the attention he is getting and the people saying he is a savior to hip hop or something. Sometimes people being on someone's jock can make another distgusted. I get like that sometimes with certain songs or artists. Does he get over rated by others, yeah, but I think he still has some growing to do. However, at least people are listening to him and hopefully tuning out the garbage, the real garbage that is out there.
After The Cool...I dont understand how anyone can hate Lupe, the sh*t goes hard. If you deaf then I can understand why you hate him but other than that you got no reason!
Maybe people just don't like the music he makes...
I personally, have no problem with him. His songs are better than most and he talks about other stuff than the "stereotype" mainstream rap.

How can you hate the guy he has the best mainstream rap out there, he's already top 50 ever imo. The Cool is the album of the year.
I dont hate him...the dude is raw in my opinion...But some people hate when someone is anointed as the "greatest"...or a "savior"....I could tell it gets on their nerves...I dont think he is the best...the greatest...or a savior...But I do think he is a breathe of fresh air...

1. cuz he really can't rap...simple and plain...IDK where people got the idea he's some sort of lyrical genius from, but I've never really heard a lupe fiasco song/line that made me want to go out and buy his cd or anything....
2. Half his "droppin knowledge" is just his oversized ego tryin to say "I'm smarter than you"..there's times when droppin knowledge is good (craig G, Ras Kass, poor righteous teachers), but a lot of his stuff (dumb it down) is nothing other than "im gonna make a whole bunch of refs to masonry and a whole bunch of other obscure s hit so that people think I'm smart"..consider..the song really say's nothing other than "look...I think I'm smart"....LAME!!
3. his 57080324832975 thousand fans that swear by him are hella annoying...
4. He copied his flow and most of his style (except the retarded "I think i'm smarter than you" ish) from kanye west...
5. everyone thinks he's "different"..he's not...I can name plenty of rappers that do what lupe does..I have no clue how he's "different"
6. He's self absorbed..IDK how to explain it....he just comes off like that to me....I'm convinced he's secretly VERY self absorbed
7. He dislikes ATCQ, and he was a lil b itch to them at their award show....

I don't hate Lupe Fiasco!!! I think he hot, fresh and fly. The guy has a style all his own and he definitely owns it!! He's a great rapper and his banging beats may not be "hard" enough for everyone.....but does everyone always want to hear the hard sh*t?
He is truly talented and deserves his props. He also lives his life in a positive manner.
Until I read this I never knew people had a problem with Lupe. I've loved his music, all his music since the beginning!
i dont hate dude i think he's cool i just think he's overrated like someone else in here said hes looked at as teh next coming or soemthing and i think they're putting too much on the guy and he's only two albums deep the cool was nice but ther are songs on the album that really throw it off as far as its status every artist has done it i mean nas has had his bad tracka long with jay-z biggie and pac as well every artist has some bad songs i just think he's being raised to high too early in his career

but if you look at that thread, i was tryin to say how he IS good, just not as incredible as people say he is. on that thread, i had ppl tell me that i was too stupid to understand, he was the next nas, and that the cool was the best album of the decade.......
you know how i feel as a muslim too, because he basically made a song the equivalent of saying "Christians believe in Jesus. We celebrate Christmas", eff the religious aspect, its also just MAD corny.
AND the tribe thing was just way too much. to say that he wouldnt even listen to it. its one thing to not have listened to it, but another to say he won't listen to it ever.
I think people tend to let their view of the artist get in the way of judging the music itself. If we all dictated our taste in music through our morals and whether artists stood for those morals, we would hate a lot of rappers.
Personally, and i've said this a lot, but i think he's arrogant. Its not the fact that he doesn't like ATCQ, its the fact that he refused to listen to them and he therefore refused to broaden his hip hop horizons. That whole laidback style can pretty much be traced back to ATCQ...so how are you gonna act like your better than the people who essentially gave you a musical route to go down? Plus he claims to be a Muslim, but didn't he slap a girl at a party? I mean i know Islam isn't the most pro-woman religion in the world..but i'm sure it says respect women...somewhere.
But yeah I think he makes good music, albeit he's a little overeaching but at least he's going in the right direction. Sure maybe he's going in that direction just to 'sound smart'..but it'd be a lot easier for him to get mainstream respect by talking about what your average mainstream rapper talks about. At the end of the day take his music for what it is, not what he is as a person.

LULZ calm it steph. Clearly i was nitpicking. I dont even know Islamic stances on hitting women...i'm pretty sure most sects allow it =( besides why are you so defensive? I said i like his music..i dont like him as a person or at least the outward image he projects through his actions. But then i don't know him...neither do you, so maybe you shouldn't be quick to jump to his defenses without actual proof as to what he's like. =/
