Why do rappers choose only light-skinned women in their videos?!
Question: I'm failing to understand this. On one hand rappers are like 'Yeh we're keeping it real...our beautiful black african sista's' but then you see the videos and they have the lightest, most straight haired, caucasian looking women or puerto rican/spanish/latin appearance.
I have never seen a dark skinned black women in a rap video, they just don't exist?
Help me understand this prejudice black rappers have against their own women?

You are absolutely correct, the only time your see a dark skin girl is when her a/s/s his HUGE like Buffy the body other than that is is lighter skin women as the main girl. It just a lot of people in the black community still play the color game and lighter is better therefore that what is shown in videos. I believe all skin colors are beautiful and should be represented.

I have seen darkinned women in many rappers videos. Black women arent just the actual color "black," we come in many chocolates, caramels, and cocoa blends and everything in between. Also, maybe these women in the videos are the rappers preference or perhaps the majority lightskinned women audition. I dunno but I have seen all colors to be honest. If there is a prejucie this is sad.
i've seen some out there. but then i really dont watch rap videos like that so i cant really say i agree or disagree with you

everyone has different taste, especially when it comes to women. It doesn't necessarily mean prejudice. By the way, some videos do feature dark skinned black women.
Well I don't know what rap video's you have been looking at but, I have seen "some" dark skin females in videos their just not the main girl for the video like the lighter females are. But if you look at their baby mommas and their wifes they are sometimes darker than the girls they have in the video's.

you gotta watch more videos. a lot more artists are adding darker skinned women into their videos, which they should be. there are so many beautiful dark skinned women but sometimes, i will agree, there are more light skinned women in videos. it looks like that's changing a little though.
Check out the "Hydrolics" video, the "Black Mags" video, i think a couple of kanye and t-pain's videos have featured a lot of darker women. darker women are extremely beautiful; i think the light skinned thing is just a trend.
sweetheart, there is no prejudice, if you look hard enough, you will find them, but no matter what race or color, to have a woman close to naked dancing around provocatively is soo degrading

when watching a rap video, your not seeing " A day in the Life" of whoever. so, of course, you wouldn't see any realistic women. music videos are staged and phonie as hell. most rapper don't even pick out the girls that appear in the video.

EVERYONE, is prejudice. i myself are prejudice. i prefer dark-skinned black men to light-skinned black men. i am a light-skinned women, opposites attract. did you notice that most male rapper are darker skinned?

First of all there are a few darker complected black women in the music video industry. With that said, most artist don't have a choice in those type of things. It's also part of a negative mind set that black people have of them selves. It's just like the experiment where the doctor asked little black girls which doll is prettier a white one or black one. The majority chose the white one because of the society issues of the times. This just another example of how much work as a people we have to do.
They don't always show light skinned woman! Look in the Peanut Butter and Jelly music video!
It is definitely one sided when it come to light skin women versus dark skin women in the videos I do come across. Buffy isn't light skinned...I really can't give you any more examples. Good point although, sorry I don't have an answer for you. Sad...smh

artist lik diddy etc be having all light skin girls in his videos....its crazy cuz kim porter is a beautiful dark skin girl...i think artist try to go with what they think everyone would lik instead of what they would lik....non of they wifes can compare to a video girl...thats the funny thing about it!!!! and light skin is not always better but they do discriminate against dark skin women..
