A big NO man. For me and for real metal fans out there, NU metal is pop rock. These bands are despised by real metal and they are not even in "Encyclopaedia Metallum Archives". Can't stand their sound and their act.
Even though I like Linkin Park, I don't consider them Metal.
No they are not metal at all just watered down wanna be versions of metal controlled by the music corporation. Lead by a bunch of emos in a band that claim to be true metal but make songs about teen angst and whining about "wahhh wahhh my boyfriend or girlfriend dumped me"

You could argue about genres forever. I like Linkin Park (not with J.Z) & Slipknot etc and have enjoyed listening to heavy metal since the late seventies & eighties. Groups like Bon Jovi and Guns n Roses killed heavy metal, with their glam type lycra trousers (pants) and high pitched voices. They are the ones I feel the most resentment for. The new bands have come up with alternative 'metals' which is modern and suits all sorts of tastes. There are so many definitions such as death metal, thrash and extreme. I know what I like and will contiue to buy the music I like, irrespective of the 'so-called' genre labels.

I consider nu-metal a combination of different genres and styles.I'm not such a big fan of nu-metal,but I have to give some credit to Linkin Park,cause the lead singer's voice is pretty good.
Anyway,prom my point of view,nu-metal is not true metal.It's like his younger,childish sister lol

According to Jonathan Davis of KoRn, he feels that the metal label does not accurately describe the style of the band. He feels that it's ignorant to just call his music metal as he also fuses elements of rock and hip-hop into the music. I think he just wants to be called rock, but then again, so does the millions of bands in history starting with AC/DC.
Nu metal is a fusion offshoot, not a subgenre of metal. Same with metalcore (though most are closer to metal IMO).
F*ck no not even close and it makes me sick to hear the word,they're a mockery to what is real metal and I just cant stand it especially linkin park dude can they suck more,they will never be any kind of metal and none of those bands know what it's all about or why we're even here and what we stand for,this is what's true and those bands will never be a part of that

listen to pretty much anything. sometimes some lite stuff so my parents dont have a heart attack. btw u should check out this band xAFBx their song jumping ships is really gud!
I guess nu-metal is metal because they're influences are metal, they just add elements of hip-hop and electronic music. Personally I think they're all rubbish but thats probably just because I can't stand hip-hop, doesn't mean they're not metal though
