Im open to ANY genre! And the guitarist doesnt necesarily have to be brilliant at solos.. infact i prefer guitarists who are creative.. like Tom Morello etc.

Tom Morello is easily one of the best.
I personally love John Frusciante of the Red Hot Chili Peppers. His solo albums are simply amazing.
Also a big fan of Doug Martsch of Built to Spill. Indie rock band that has been around since the mid-1990's. Listen to their cover of Neil Young's - Cortez the Killer. Built to Spill stetched the song out and its 22 minutes of great jamming.

A.J. Minette from The Human Abstract is the most technically brilliant guitarist I've ever heard. And he's only 21! That whole band is spectacular, they hold themselves to such high standards and that's why their music is simply brilliant. Also Alexi laiho from Children of Bodom is a musical genius. he writes all the music for that band and shreds like none other, some of the fastest most technically sound pieces of music I've ever heard. Check em both out, they are simply brilliant.
