Can you give me a valid reason why I should take any rap seriously?!

Question: I recently heard, "Riding in my car", and my heart dropped (and this has been happening way too often). I have not heard anything for a while that can be considered decent music. I've heard songs that were ok, but nothing that has really caught my attention. I'm not as big a fan as I used to be, but still enough of a fan to know that rap has not progressed much (other than becoming ultra mainstreamed). Back to what was originally asked, is rap overall (I always have the underground and old school to help me out) worth my efforts in the state that it's in right now?

it all depends on what u like..me personally, i think rap/hip hop is fine the way it is, there's so many options out there for u to listen to the kind of hip hop u like

I really can't say that it is, but I'm not a good judge, seeing as I am a fan of metal.

There are no valid reasons

I agree...the new stuff is quite crap really. Check out some old skool hip hop like Tupac, B.I.G, Heavy D, Easy E, Nas, Jay Z....etc.

yeah, the music out right now is really bad. i've been thinkin, and i dont think its gonna change at all. Im just stickin to my old school stuff.

It should be banned. They call themselves artist. I call it crap.
Just call the station and complain.

There are different genres to choose from. If none of them satisfy you or they seem redundant then maybe you should switch to something else like alternative or metal. I am a hip hop fan and I will forever be one I try to look for positive messages and I feel like people rarely have anything good to say about hip hop or its artists. I pick artists that appeal to me you should do the same or pick a new category of music.

as a musician i can personally say that rap is a respectable music...but...i don't think it takes as much talent as other types of music. my kind of music...ie: rush, iron maiden, tool...takes more skill. performing rap is as easy as repeating catchy and repetitive verses. there are much more difficult things in music like key changes. rappers and their producers use machines to create music. other musicians play instruments...not slide little nobbies up on a soundboard in a studio, later to be played back on stage while the rapper just waits. my type of musician collaborates with his/her bandmates and innovates the way he plays. he/she contributes to writing lyrics and discussing what sounds best and what the song is really about. rappers mainly sing about bitches and hos but other musicians try to into deeper matters of life and death.

you just have to be patient... look for dr. dre's new album to come out, eminem's coming, nas' coming, kanye west and jay z have been putting out good music. just like mike jones, mims and soulja boy are gonna fizzle out. in the meantime rappers like jeezy, ludacris, lil wayne, 50 cent, fat joe, and t.i. are ok... just not good enough to be leading rap right now.

If you are hearing impaired you might take rap seriously ?
