Question: Does anyone else find this to be annoying as well. I've personally reached my boiling point and it has left me to wonder why others are so hateful towards bands they don't like. Yes you don't have to like them, but other people do, shouldn't you at least be a little bit respectful towards someone else's muscial preferences?

Everyone bashes things they do not like or do not agree with. Nobody cares if you are getting mad. People have gotte mad, of course for finding someone who they are against in something they believe in. Thats just life. YOU ARE NOT going to stop people from bashing things they do not like, IT NEVER WILL, and IT NEVER HAS!
Like people asking questions "fall out boy is the best band correct?"
A. Obviously its not so people will stand up against that person and bash that band because that person made a stupid a false comment.
EDIT: I'm sorry if I've offended you. In other words just to make it simple, people have different preferences of what they like and dislike.

Whenever someone asks me if I like a certain band that happens to be one of their favorites and I don't like it, I just say "I don't really like them, but that's just me." Like, I don't go around saying "Don't listen to this trash! It's horrible!" especially if that's just my opinion.
I just wish more people wouldn't go around publicly saying that it's horrible.
Ignore it if it bothers you. There are always going to be people in this world who have to bash what they don't like or understand in order to make themselves feel taller. Bickering about it constantly, no offense, sinks you down closer to their level and won't help your anger any.

Pleading on an online forum certainly won't stop it. In fact, someone else just tried offering a "truce" last week.
I'll say what I said before; only way it'll stop is when the emo trend fades & the bands who people perceive represent it disband. Til then, people are very passionate about music.
MCR sucks.
The ones that talk bad about emo and bands like that don't know why they are even saying that. They just follow along and repeat what others say.
Real music fans have an open mind to ALL music.If someone puts their heart and thoughts into writing a song, you gotta give your respects! Listen to something first before talking sh** about it!
Opinions...the best and worst things about free will and free speech. Everyone has them and sometimes they aren't what we want to hear. Sadly, there's not a whole lot you can do about it. And no, people aren't always going to be respectful towards other people's preferences. They are going to speak their minds regardless of what others think. If anything, you should keep an open mind about what others have to say.
Besides, what you like makes y o u happy. What other people think is irrelevant if that's true. Everyone's entitled to their opinion.
People can not just help themselves and express their own personal opinions.
Everyone in this world will not be happy with everyone else's opinions and it will always stay that way.
People agree and disagree with one another.
Many believe they have a right to express their own views about something whether it does offend anyone or not.
Also, most people do not care about other's opinions so they clearly do not care whether they offend/annoy anyone with their own opinion about something.
So, I guess you just have to focus on the less hateful points of things.
yes i totally agree with you. im really tired of the "emo" bs and stereotypes. emo is a genre of music, and it is not about razors, cutting, tight jeans and so on.
people bash everything. it's not just like they are singling out emo music constantly. they bash rap and hip-hop and gays and political figures and other people and God and animals and colors (this could go on forever). all i am saying is that it's gonna happen by some morons who don't even fully know what they are talking about...

What i find funny is a lot of people that bash it probably like at least one emo song. Sometimes an emo song is disguised by a combined sound of other styles of music such as hardcore or rock. They don't know that they are listening to emo until someone who knows a thing or two points it out.
It's been around since the eighty's and has since evolved its persona into bands we know today like The Used and AFI (their newer stuff)
I think hate for anything is rooted in ignorance and selfishness.
It's something you're gonna have to get used to until some new fad comes along. Anything that becomes popular will eventually have people bashing it. It happened with hair metal, grunge, nu-metal, and now it's emo's turn. Plus it doesn't help when certain bands like MCR, FOB, etc are forced upon us and other bands are ignored just because they are deemed unfashionable by the media.

You could just grow thicker skin and forget about it. Accept that people will have a difference in opinion than you.
I think it says more about the quality of the person if they're bashing the music or the listener beyond simply saying they're not into it. Bashing something or flaming says only that they're immature and are too small-minded to accept opinions other than their own.
Either ignore or distance yourself from these people.
