Well, it's already been said, but you have to go with the US, Finland, Sweden and Norway. The Nordic countries produce the best power/thrash mixes, while the US is the leader in metalcore. However, a few oddballs exist. For pure cheese metal, DragonForce is from England, and I do have a soft spot for them.

Depends on what kind of metal. In trash metal or mostly heavy metal, american has tons.
