Do You Think I Should Go For It?!

Question: I'm only a 13 year old guy, but I have a dream of being in a famous rock band (being the lead singer). I have been inspired my many bands such as: Aerosmith, Guns 'N' Roses, Def Leppard etc. and I write my own songs and all. Should I start to get a band together or not? Remember I am only 13 and don't have money for instruments and stuff. I was hoping to call my band Silver Wings (idea from Aerosmith logo).
What's your opinion, fellows?

I'm 14 and want to do the same thing!! I really want to be in a rock band so much, its my dream!! Do you know how to play any instruments or have any yet??? Or does your friends know how to play any?? If you do you can start a band with your friends! I'm going to do the same thing! I know it can be expensive, but its worth it!! Who knows maybe you'll get luck! Good luck on that! And wish u best! :)

sounds like an awesome name to me..... go for it, what do you have to lose? -Alan

at 13 the dream is fine for a few years

GO FOR IT!

i think its a great idea!!!!!

hope to see you on the stage someday!!!!

good luck!!!!

go for it! good luck :)

Go for it! Just be sure you have an education as a back up

yes!! go for it. get a small job and eventually u can buy instruments. even if u don't make it big time, u can always have a love for music.

Awesome dude. Maybe you can get your parents in to help you. I like the name idea.

You should follow your dreams.....that is a cool name for a band..........GOOD LUCK!!

yup

I think you should definately GO FOR IT!!!

AND go to college and get a degree in something you are interested in so you have a fallback position if the rock star gig falls through...

Nobody has the right to tell you what you should or should not believe. If you feel this is something you really would like to do then do it. You can only know if you try.

Good name too. I would listen to a group by that name.

Goodluck! :)

You might as well give it a try. Very few bands make it big but the experience would be fun and worthwhile. Maybe your school (if it has a music program) can let you use their instruments. BTW...love the band name. Very cool!

Follow your dreams sweet, otherwise you'll never know if it'll work out. I say give it a shot. Who knows, you might be the next big thing! Cause most good bands start out low at one point in time. And if anyone says you shouldn't, forget them!

Well what can happen? 13 is young. Acually if you liv it go for it! good luck!

You're never too young to have aspirations! Start small and see where you can get donations from, believe me, people can be more generous than you think (especially when they know you're actually using the money for some good). Get some talent together and work your way up.
But anyways Good Luck!

Learn how to play guitar, start doing heroin and make a band called Nirvana....oh wait that has already been done, three power chords and all. If your band isn't going to be original and distinct then don't make another shitty hack band for the love of all of our ears.

I had the same dream as you at your age. If you really want to pursue a career in music, remember that you have to be really serious about it. You have to be prepared to go all the way, and not stop half way through. You're still 13. By the time you turn 18, you may have changed your mind. Be sure that you really, really want it, because you have a LOT of competition ahead of you.

P.S. If you're really serious about it, I would suggest that you have a "backup" plan in case things don't work out. Try to get a college degree while working on the band maybe. I have friends who did that and are now in a pretty well known band (Threat Signal, ever heard of em?)

I say go for it! Love the name.

P.S: I am so jealous that you are 13 and a top contributor to Y!A!

i think your too young...it is a grueling and blunt and aggressive industry with a lot of pressure...trust me im a retired executive of SONY group and have worked with areosmith and bon jovi & others. stay in school and focus on your schoolwork first and foremost.

never know uless you try

i would suggest you start planning it and then when ur 15 get a job and get money and start it up

you never know untill you try
the band greenday started out in the garage and sold hundreds like when they were 18
you can do it =)
silver wings sounds cool

oh yea and watch out for the ppl that tell you, that its a dumb idea, and that you cant do it , because they wish they were like you and dont want to see anyone exept themselves to be happy or succesfull

You need some talent. Got any? Has anyone of any authority complemented your talent? If not, keep working on your playing/singing abilities, but make getting a good education your top priority.

Do it. Trust me. Even if it doesn't pay off you'll have a crap load of fun. Most people think you gotta have a lot of luck to make it in showbiz but the truth is its actually not that hard if you know what your doing.

I was all for it until i read the "famous rock band" part.
Focus more on being a "great musician"

why not? i'm sixteen and aspire to work in the music industry as well. BUT, unlike you, i want to work behind the scenes for a record label as an A&R. I've already started meeting people who can help me make it there. Don't let something like your age hold you back. Take your passion and make it happen. Alot of people think that teens who like rock music are just going through a "phase," but I've loved this kind of music for over 4 years now, and I know it's where i'm meant to be. If this is truely what you love, and care about GO FOR IT!

It sounds like a good idea. I know a local band myself, though they havent decided on a name, and they are pretty awesome. They are 17, but Tank and Tyler have played guitar since they were 13<Tank=base, Tyler=Guitar>

Yeah, that sounds great. My favorite band of all time, Chronic Future, made their first record when the lead singer was 13. It might not have been their best work, but you can tell it made their present songs great. Go for it, nice band name, too.

Yeah I think you should do it. Dreams are made to come true. And dont worry about not having money for stuff right now. Every great band started with nothing.

PS. the name is cool too

i say go for it, i was younger when i started playing drums and jamming, and singing. its never too early to start, i mean the band incubus got there first record deal when they were 13. and a microphone and an amp doesnt cost very much. put an add in the paper or on myspace in your local area and see what happens. good luck.

definitely!! i'm also 13. i started a band when i was 8. i no its crazy but it was fun. just start writing songs and have fun with it. u dont necessairily have to audition ppl but just get some friends who r interested (and talented enough :)). u can always get a computer program like jamtrax that has the insturments on it and stuff until u have enough money to buy real insturments. i've always wanted to do sumthing musically and my parents don't really support me but i didn't care and went for it anyway. i've only had one audition so far and didn't make it but i'm going to keep trying until i get something. so yea just follow your dreams.....
