Hmmm.. Maybe someone who know a lil bout hip hop should answer this... since rakim was the second to go...
Waynes out first... I'm sorry, but with lines like "dear mr. Toilet, I'm the ****" and "even bobble heads tell me yes" your claim to fame, your not doin it...
Bizzys next... he's fast, and he's nice... but battle rapper he is not... and if we goin for just skill... he's fast... *shrugs*... not very clever... metas, allusions, punches... all laccin... but he fast...
Pac.. I love you... but its a wrap... he was great.. But this list has some heavy weights on it... I would never listen to kanye or common over pac, but they have said some DAMN clever lines... pac was a direct, very simple rapper
Down goes kanye.... he's a step above mediokre... he has some good lines, but A LOT of filler, and just makin up words to rhyme is a no-no.... "don't ever fix ya lips like collogen to say some when you gon end up APPOLOGIN"... yeah.. That aint english...
Commons next... in his day, he was one of the nicer mc's... but he too soft... I need some gangsta music after too long... what can I say, imma WEST native...
Rakim is out next cuz he aint a battle rapper... he is the greatest of all time because every rapper doin it now, was influenced by him... he's YOUR favorite rapper's favorite rapper's favorite rapper... dig me?
Nas is like... next... he nice... SUPER nice... but he can't hold his own in a fight... checc the reccord, he was playin the dozens with jay, when all jay did was spit facts... jay made the hip hop world question nas's status in Ny wit ONE verse... nas spent a WHOLE album tryin to get bacc... think about it
Jay is next... one of the best to ever do it. You can hate all you want... but he has used words like sabbatical, facisious, vehimently(sp) in his flow... CORRECTLY! His meta cannot be touched... his lines are thought provokin... "wit that F.D.R. in the seat of my car"... ARE WE FORREAL?! Fdr? Franklin Delano Roosavelt... the president on a dime.... be real...
But even Jay crowns Biggie as king... "Frances M to the Izz-H phenomenal/ gun rest under my vest by the abdominal".. I could have chose a better line, but tha illustrates one of the things that Big did best... words you would NEVER think to put together he did it with ease... "so JEEEESUS get off the notorious PENIS before I squeeze and bust"... he had the rawness and skill to make it this far...
But Em is the last man standing, hands down. With lines like "ran down the hall to the janitors storage booth/ kicced the door hinge loose/ and ripped out the four inch screws/ grabbed some sharp objects brooms and foriegn tools/ this is for every time you stole my orange juice"... the style, multis, alliteration... not to mention that foriegn is the closest word you can get in the english language that rhymes with orange. Or ANYTHING off the 8 mile soundtracc... he battles insane, he has metas, multis, punches, style... the only thing he is laccin is a high melonin count... but if you a fan of hip hop like me, it don't matter.
