Try Piano Concerto No. 11 (especially Rondo Alla Turca/Turkish March) by Mozart and the Brandenburg Concertos by Bach.

Mozart: all of his operas, The Requiem Mass, and I have a wonderful aria on a cd of popular compositions, but I don't know the name of it.

I don't think it's correct to refer to them as 'songs'! Music is the best term. My favourite Mozart is his 21st concerto for piano, Beethoven's Moonlight Sonata & 9th Symphony, & Bach I don't know too much about.
Buy a book - "The NPR Guide to Building a Classical CD Collection" will tell you everything you need to know to get started.
Generally, if the music is a song, it needs to have words (lyrics) otherwise they are works or pieces.

The other suggestion is get the Essential Beethoven, Essential Mozart and Essential Bach CDs. (you can't go wrong with these).
Not many people have mentioned much about bach. I just got into him, and hes definitely in the top 3 composers of all time. i have a lot of music from him but i havent gone through it all to give you some good suggestions youll recognize immidiatly. toccata and fugue, cello suite #1, and prelude in C, are very recognizable though
