There aren't really that many viewers and they couldn't afford to bring the celebrities on the show anymore. Therefore, they are forced to play old re-runs. Colorful though, huh?
Most of the rights to soul train are locked up in the estate of Don Cornelius. I think there is a show remaining but it is nothing like the original
I love watching the reruns! Is Don Cornelius still alive?. If the show was brought back, it would be great.
Soul Train stopped making new episodes in 2006. Instead of cancelling the show they started showing "The Best Of Soul Train" last winter and will do so until they can find a new national distributor for the show.
Don Cornelius is still alive and runs his own company which produces the Soul Train Awards show in addition to Soul Train.
