Toss up! solo or frontman?!
Question: i thought this would be an interesting question:
among these singers, did they do better work as soloists or as the frontman for a band(i know sometimes the work may be difficult to distinguish, still try)
tom petty: solo or with the heartbreakers?
phil collins: solo or with genesis?
michael mcdonald: solo/duet or with doobie brothers?
sting: solo or with the police?
don henley: solo or with the eagles?
eric clapton: solo or with the byrds/cream?
michael jackson: solo or with the jackson five(i know the age difference is big here)
paul simon: solo or with simon and garfunkel?

all with their original groups except Michael Jackson and Eric Clapton , my own personal opinion... I think those two proved their success solo, which is hard... Tom Petty is good with anybody though like the Traveling Wilburys, and Phil Collins was equally good solo but will be great to hear again with Genesis... added note - Paul Simon prove he was a great solo artist too as did the others but nothing matched Simon and Garfunkel together or the Eagles, or the Police or the Doobie Brothers... I have music CDs by all artists by the way - I grew up listening to all of their music as a kid starting in the 1970s....
