Tool is the best rock band, in my opinion. They start off with a raw, thrashy garage band song, and slowly, over the years, evolve into a unique and complex group, a little less angry, but much more mature and still rock harder than ever =D
As for classic rock.. Doesn't get much cooler than Led Zeppelin or The Guess Who!
