A question I've been often asked is "When is it time for a band to call it quits? I've always answered this by saying, "when they can no longer do their music." Many bands just can't perform like they used too, but I want to say for the record that Aerosmith can. I wouldn't retire a band based on their time in the limelight, I'd retire a band based on their inability of producing quality sound. I went to an Aerosmith concert last year (when they toured with Motley Crue) and they were AWESOME.
Stephen Tyler sung better that night than he did on many of his albums, seriously. That show blew me away. So I wouldn't throw in the towel for them yet. We need all the great music we can get.

No band should ever have to live up to my idealized vision of what they once were or should be. They should all retire and be deprived of their love of playing music for their fans simply because I think they suck or can no longer do it.
