I like your choice with the Roots...but like Crypt said, I think they are highly respected by mainstream and underground fans as well...My vote is gonna go to Dilated Peoples...I think they are considered mainstream...In my opinion they are over looked all of the time...Evidence is a dope mc...Rakaa is nice...and Dj Babu...sick....There whole Beat Junkies crew is over looked...

I think his first album was pretty good - 4 mics.
His last album though I think was HIGHLY overlooked, 4.5 mics. While his rhyme scheme is a little simplistic, he makes up for it in flow and content. The production was hot, and by listening to the album, you would have no idea that Cham was from the south. He stays away from all the crunk, snap yp fingas ish thats played on the radio all day long.

The Roots although are signed to a major label, I think have gotten major respect from the underground as well as from Heads. They've thrown out a few classics, and I personally don't think they're overlooked. Not by me anyways.

AZ is one of the best of all time and SLEPT on like crazy....his lyrics are nasty just listen to his first album Doe or Die...he came up with NAS and was on illmatic also
Cassidy is one of the most overlooked mainstream artist, who has supreme lyrics. He is better then most newer rap artists.
