I am having so much trouble with eighth notes...?!

Question: I already asked, but try to explain this again everyone...

http://www.drums-and-drum-sets.com/image... = For this eighth note, you COUNT one - and. But you only hit ONCE, right? They are on the same line so you would only count one- and

How would you do this? = http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Image:Eight... Since they are on different lines, do you hit 4 times, or 8? Plz explain how these work..

for the first one
No, you hit TWICE
one(hit) and(hit)

you hit once only if there is an arc the conect the two eighth notes.

For the second one
you hit 4 times
one(hit) and(hit) two(hit) and(hit)

you can go here to learn more
http://www.8notes.com/school/theory/Note...

In 4/4 time the first on would be hit twice, but count as 1/4 of the measure. In the second it wouild be 4 beats, but count as half of the measure.

ok, for the first one, it is two eighth notes....the first note is ONE, the second note is AND.

The second one isn't like drums, they are different notes. you hit four times....they are read, in this order: ONE, AND, TWO, AND......

here, say each "d" is an eighth note and say + is AND
