Confused about eighth notes, (On my piano)..?!

Question: Could someone explain this to me? I am learning now how to use eighth notes. You count 1-and for a whole eighth note, right? I don't get it then if the two notes are on different lines. Lemme try to show you it.. Any help?

Plz explain this?

Plz explain this?

one and two and three and four
for those notes on the pic: one(1st eight note) and (2nd) two (3rd) and (4th)
because one eighth note is only half a beat therefore all those together equals 2 beats. i usually count with my feet by tapping when i play at the piano because it doesn't cause any confusion

The link would be played"one-and-one-and."

An eighth note is only a "one" OR an "and." If you do "one-and," that's a quarter note.

Hope that makes sense!

I'm learning to play Bells and Xylophone. Just like an over blown Piano without strings, I had learned those about three weeks ago. you simply count that one 1 an 2 an. if they are on different lines it doesn't change the counting :]
simple once you get it down, don't worry it will come.
I hope that helped.

2 eighth notes = 1 quater notes

so you would count:
one and two and
_______________
E .... E .... E .... E
l____l ........l____l
....l ................l
... Q ............ Q

Q = quarter note
E = eighth note
