What are some good straight edge hardcore or rock bands?!

Question: I consider myself straight edge now..but I'm kinda new to it all. And I really love music. I was wondering what are some good bands out there who are staight edge themselves...I'm kinda into hardcore but punk is ok as well.

Bands I listen to right now are Linkin Park, SlipKnoT, Fall Out Boy, Panic! At The Disco...

So anything helps...

You consider yourself straight edge NOW? Are you saying that you suddenly just decided to give up illicit drugs, alchohol, sex etc.? You might want to prove to yourself that you are able to avoid all that before you call yourself straight edge. Also, the bands on your "already there" list are neither sXe or hXc. In fact, FOB and P!ATD practically DEMOTE the concept of sXe.

but I don't know any other straight edge bands that are hardcore.

I guess it is what you define as straight edge. I mean rock music and straight edge are almost oxymoronic. For anyone music fan I would look into the classics. Led Zeppelin, Kiss, Guns 'n' Roses, Metallica, even Van Halen. Some more recent groups you might want to look into is Alter Bridge and Velvet Revolver (which has 3 former members of Guns 'n' Roses and Scott Wieland of Stone Temple Pilots Fame). Also, I wouldn't label music as this or that, just listen to what you like and enjoy what you. Don't let people tell you what you should like or dislike because it's not cool or something.

Take care and rock on!

People here don't seem to know what straight-edge is!

AFI and Rancid and 2 hardcore/punk/alternative/call them whatever you want it's still good music/screamo bands that I know of which some of the band members are straight-edge in. Sorry I can't suggest any more; it seems not many rockers out there are edge anymore (at least not many I can think of).

And, give yourself a pat on the back for choosing to be straight-edge! Respecting your body and giving yourself morals is definitely something to be proud of. Unfortunately they are beliefs which are frequently lost in society today.

-Atreyu
-AFI
-Breaking Benjamin
-Bullet For My Valentine
-Celldweller
-Chevelle
-Comeback Kid
-Disturbed
-Evanescence
-Killswitch Engage
-Killwhitneydead
-Korn
-The Misfits
-Modest Mouse
-Muse
-Nightwish
-Nine Inch Nails
-Papa Roach
-Rammstein
-Rise Against
-Rob Zombie
-Saosin
-System Of A Down
-Three Days Grace
-Trivium
-Underoath
-The Used
-White Stripes

Well there's alot you could check out... And I know I took some liberties with the genres there... Hope it helps you find something good though =D

Otep is pretty good.Mudvaynes good.My husband listens to a band called Devil Driver. Too crunchy for me,I liked coal chamber better. Just some ideas.

old school afi.
they're all pretty straight edge and whatnot.

oh and rise against

The band you listen to is neither hardcore or straight edge. It seems to me that you like punk pop and nu metal. I'm not really a fan of nu metal, but I'll recommend you some Punk pop/powerpop bands.

Motion City Soundtrack
Weezer
Jimmy Eat World

Some post-hardcore you might enjoy:
Thrice
Alexisonfire
A Static Lullaby

Also try some old rock, like
AC/DC(really easy to get into)
Gun N' Roses
Van Halen
The Rolling Stones
Aerosmith
The Beatles

Grunge:
Nirvana(pick up Nevermind)
Alice in Chains

I'll always been somewhat straight edge before even knew of the movement strangely.

minor threat

a punk band, one of the best.
