Elliott Smith Question...?!

Question: I am looking for a dvd that is not very common (or easy to find!), it is from Chicago (maybe?) and it is a live concert. I don't remember when exactly he died, but the concert was not too long before that I think. My boyfriend is a huge fan of his and has seen this dvd in a music store in philly but didn't buy it. When he went back they didn't have it and now we can't find it anywhere. I am trying to find if for him for chirstmas, so I don't want to ask him the details about it that is why I have given a terrible description of it.

Please help!

Yep, Elliot Smith was a genius. Great lyrics and guitar player. His mind works great with music. Like a clock. I saw him play with his band. The bass player got off time Elliot spun in an instant and gave him a glare. Most people never knew the bass player was off. But Elliot was on top of it in about a fraction of a second. So good a music he always gave and demanded the best.

Ms. Sunshine - here is the blog I traced the zip file from. The zip file is Elliot performing an acoustic set of 12 songs. The same videos are on YouTube however, the sound quality is so much better if you download the file.

Sorry, I tried. I hope someone has come up with an answer because it sounds really intriguing to me. I was lucky enough to see him a couple times (twice with a band and once acoustic) and I would love to have something like that. He put on a very good show.

I did stumble on a book that looks really interesting at amazon.com called Elliott Smith. The description looks really neat. Here's a link.

Good luck.

Agree with all of it Mr. Bernstein, he really was a genius. It all seemed so on his sleeve too, makes his story particularly sad. The live story reminds me of the old stories about James Brown fining the members of his band for each mistake.
