Hip hop heads and RHH section regulars, I gotta question for you?!

Question: Do you find your self always defending your knowledge on hip hop, always having to school somebody...you know, cause of all of the ignorant stereotypes...

I mean that in real life though...not in this section or in other websites....

no. a lot of people call me a hypebeast because there are some hip-hop heads that dont like me. for instance, usually i wear skate brands or plain color shirts, and once i wear a brand that they know or like, they think im on their jock. i just brush it off though, cause i was chillin with my friend sean when they came up to him and were all, "yo man, you got to stop jocking our sh*t (music) homie, youre not dope." but they didnt know that he got his music from me (theyre surprised i even like hip-hop because i dont look like a head). when they left my friend told me that they used to talk, and that he was joking around telling them that he knew an artist before them, and he was like "a true hip-hop head does not care who knows who first, its all about the music and showing love for the art." i found it ironic because now that he knows hes not the only hip-hop head in school, he feels less special haha.

yes always and it always seems as if im fighting agianst people who worship lil wayne or say eminem sucks

all the time

YES i HAVE. ESPECiALLY WiTH TH0SE THAT SAY THAT LiL WAYNE iS THE BEST.....SiKE.

yea

oh dont get me started...i gotta defend myself agains MANY lil wayne stans...but they are too hard headed to listen...

EDIT: oh yea that too my..example...i was listenin 2 my iPod and my older cousin comes up 2 me and says "who you listenin to Soulja boy" i was like no, Rakim, he was like yea right you neva even heard of Rakim....i had 2 argue my point and named songs by Rakim n all that...idk know why older people usually do it...is it cuz they dont want the younger generation to know more than them? idk

naw, I'm just like..if yo music sucks than don't talk bout it/listen to it round me or F UCK YOU TOO!!.I don't school that much tho, cuz if they don't listen to it, they ain't gonna start cuz I preached to them..ya'know?

I think that's always going to be the case but at the end of the day you're educating people. Changing minds. Everytime you answer an "ignorant" person you have the power to open their eyes to music. I know it sounds corny but I've gotten so many people to stop being closed minded by playing songs, reciting lyrics, sending them to websites, handing them articles and some even forcing them to concerts! Just look at it as an opportunity to stop the hate.

grow up kiddies, this aint music, its talking with tuff words, it all sucks.

lol OH well in that case hell yeah

people always assume females don't listen to anything else but t-pain, i deal with that **** on the reg

I have to do that for other genres too.

yes all the time don't get me started stupid rock groupies on RYM flooded Get Rich Or Die Tryin with half star ratings saying sh*t like & this alone is a good reason to hate rap" and i have even seen somebody give illmatic a half star rating sayng " this is the # 1 album of 1994 ??? what a joke there were at least 100 better rock albums and 94 thatn this crap"

this is the most ignorant one to date

"One of my friends told me to listen to something else besides Panic! At the Disco and tried to get me into (c)rap music. He lent me Get Rich or Die Tryin' by gay a/s/s 50 Cent. I skimmed right through the album, listening to each song no more than five seconds. Turn out I was right. This album is gay, therefore 50 Cent is gay, therefore all rap is gay, therefore all rap fans are gay too. Rock is the God of all music and all other genres are just the nuts in rock's turds. Rock IS the epitome of all music. Everything else is gay, especially (c)rap."

Soooo much! It makes me angry when i see documentary's on the tv of thug violence and street youths and clearly blame it on the music industry!

This is uncalled for.. violence and criminal behavior was highly opposed by HipHop artists and even to this day, nothing said by artists should be taken literally.

And all those who blame such rappers as Tupac for promoting violence are highly mistaken, and i suggest should go home, stick a tupac cd on and have a real good think about what the best rapper of our time is really trying to say

Yep....all the time. I'm with Hazzzzzzzze on this one. =0)

not really.

What happens to me a lot is hipsters who listen to one doom song try to tell me how cool they are because they listen to it and quote know that real hip hop. Meanwhile, i just asked if I could copy their hw.

Of course...Im real preppy and small, so guys at my school dont think I know anything about Hip Hop period. Well I dont have that problem anymore, cause I battled this boy and won!, so now the guys respect my knowledge and are trying to listen to more Emcees than just punchline rappers(let them listen to the artists that I have in my ipod, let them know whats good outside of the radio lol)... first and last battle at school lol I was nervous and the guy kinduv intimidated me, everyone talked about it for a week...

Wow, everyday...At school Im surrounded by people that are into rock music, and they are always putting down hip hop, so Im always defending it. And also with friends of mine that think that they know EVERYTHING about hip hop but dont...

Too many Cooks in the Kitchen! but I don't get caught up,I just speak on what I know and keep it movin'

Most of the time at concerts or parties people say stuff like "you don't know nothing about that," "you wasn't even a teenager when this came out" or similar comments. Sometimes people (that aren't familiar with me) are suprised that I know of a certain artist/group or that I know a certain song. I guess, they feel that way because of my age (19), and that I'm a female. I keep it moving.

i do school a lot of people when it comes to hip-hop. but people always try to argue when they say if i know of KRS ONE or Wu-Tung Clan or Tribe Called Quest or Rakim. people think jus cuz im not as old as they are. they think they know that they no more about the old school sh!t jus cuz they older. people need to research

just cuz im 15 dont mean im stupid. i hate wen step to me like that

it mite just be there asking you to find out what artists you like and stuff - but if someone was doing it to me trying to look good that they knew or thought they knew more i would just let them think whatever.

i know what i like and about what i like so don't care if people think i don't know anything
