Am I the ONLY person who loves older music?!

Question: I love David Bowie, The Beatles, ELO, and other older bands.
I didn't even grow up during those times! ;)
So I find this question more funny.
The music now, really annoys me, but I will find some that catch my interest, but the percentage isn't as high as the older music.

Am I the ONLY person who loves older music?
Why?

Good question :)
Without older music, then where would be the bands now?
Older music is the BEST!
Very inspirational to the new generation.

i do.

you are not alone. i am older and i to liked it when i was younger

your not the only one...i like elvis and the beach boys etc..

No. There is a VERY large number of Classic Rock fans on this board. However, a lot of people will utilize this board to their advantage and find new bands worth listening to.
For instance, not a lot of people know about Gogol Bordello. They are doing some incredible things with the fusion of genres and traditional music styles. Just food for thought.

***Prof: LOL!!! That's great!

No ~ you aren't alone!

I'm 25 and most of my favourite music is from the 60's and 70's, and even some from the 50's.

Edit :~

I see the "anti 'old' music" trolls are in this evening!

No, music today sucks.

I have music from the 80's and 90's mostly on my iPod, and even stuff from the 70's. I only have stuff from today that I think is good, or music I like from my old downloaded and burned CD's. I try to avoid most rap/hip-hop.

I′m 20 and love all the bands you just mentioned. I also love heavier bands like deep purple , black sabbath and they are also old!

It′s just fantastic music, and time can′t change that.

No. You are not the only one.

In my opinion, yes you are alone. Personally I only like music that hasn't come out yet.

the bands you listed suck but i like the stones and zeppelin and the doors. I'm only sixteen

No your not alone...sometimes I feel like I was born in the wrong generation.....and I'm only 22

block me. your question is so dumb. you really think you're the only person who likes the beatles and so-called 'older music'... think about what you write before you post.

no i like a lot of old 60's and 70's music and im not all that old(18)

I absolutely love older music, but i also love today's music but I'm more into death metal and that kind of thing. but i grew up around old music and i always-ed loved it because it reminds me of home. but no matter what I will always love it you have a great sense of music!

NO!! i love old rock their the classics
i love the beatles
david bowie has an amazing voice
the who (im actually listening to them right now)
queen
iron maiden
t rex
the cure
led zep
van halen
guns and roses

i perfer it then to todays music.

Your statement is kinda funny since all the artists you mentioned are multi-platinum. Lots of interesting people of all ages are discovery good music. The ones who search are the ones who find.

As far as why- alot of new artists don't know how to write songs with melody. Melody are notes or chords that are related. Writing melody requires more than a basic knowledge of songwriting. It takes a certain amount of experience and training. Unfortunately in today's world of fast food music production writing a song with melody is not needed or considered important.

You're far from alone on this. The music you like is from a time when artistic individuality was prized. Good rock and roll is timeless. Most of the cookie-cutter assembly line crap that's around today gets old real fast. Don't get me wrong, there is some good new music floating around but not a whole lot.

no, I like it to

Am I the only person who loves older music???
No your not I do too .

i like old music. Thats pretty much ALL I like.

Metallica (10 years before i was born)
Black Sabbath (you do the math)

but then there are newer bands...well, newer than the 2 i named anyway.

Godsmack
Disturbed

thats not all, just examples

No.... I'm still stuck in the 80's - will still listen to the bands of the 50's, 60's & 70's - aside from Marilyn Manson, I don't care for most of the bands today...

I only listen to older music....I don't like this new "stuff'.....I could probably name bands you never heard of!

Mott the Hoople
Steve Miller
Johnny Winters

No..I love older bands... but I'm older...so..yeah....

You are far from the only person.

nope, so many people like "classic rock" and stuff like that.
i hate the label "classic rock" cause it's pretty much anything from 1960-1989, but anyway, older stuff you know. if you like the music from the early 70's, then definitely see Almost Famous. some great tunes in that flick from that time

No, I still like older music, but I like to find some good new music too.
Commercial radio is horrible for this purpose. I'd listen to the local alternative FM station in town but they were always too hip to tell you the name of the artist. So finally I went to Satellite which scrolls the year and musician on the LCD screen. Great.
One thing I like about the modern age is that I can usually find some obscure band from 30 years ago on the Internet and usually buy their music.
I don't think music now is generally worse. It's just so niche oriented it's hard to track down.

No. Everyone ALWAYS asks that, and it sounds like you're trying to get attention for liking "older" music. A LOT of people listen to The Beatles, don't even TRY to act like you're different. Tons of my friends listen to The Beatles, i'm probably the only one that listens to David Bowie, but still, we're only 13.

well, I only listen to new music. No offense, but older music annoys me very much. However, everyone has their own style of music. I'm sure there are plenty of people just like you who love older music, even if you don't know them.

I love 70's and 80's music and I'm only 13- People should like music because they like it- not because what year it was released.
