Why didn't the CMA people want George Jones to sing changes it was a good so!

Question: Alan Jackson sure threw them a curve ball when he played the song on his set huh?

I agree with what the others Caveman and Okie said. I think they would like to put a gag on the legends but it's up to us and folks like Alan Jackson to stop that from happening. I haven't always liked all of Marty Stuart's songs but when he did what he did in producing the Wagonmaster CD with the great Porter Wagoner I had to take my hat off to him for it. Now as has been said I would like to see more of the younger generation of singers step up to the plate and hit a home run where the legends are concerned. Without the legends that paved the way these youngsters wouldn't have a job let alone a fan base or anything to even sing about.

The CMA's are like every other entitiy in this mixed up world!!
They were trying to promote "the Younguns", but Alan (and with many high praises) thought that THE LEGENDS still have a place in this Taylor Swift/Carrie Underwood world!!!

(Do you think either one of those would give up a spot on National T.V. for Loretta or Tammy?)

I AGREE, and if we only had a few more like him..to do just what he did, maybe..just maybe a LEGEND or two would be seen more or heard on the radio again.

I have nothing else to add-I agree with the 3 before me all the way.

I think because it was "too country" lol.

This answer is easy....George Jones does not fit in with the CMA anymore than Merle Haggard does! They both play and sing country music. The CMA is country-rock and country-pop! Basic country music of yesterday does not get the recognition with the young fans and that is where the future and money will be, thus no George Jones, no Merle Haggard! I quit watching CMA....when they threw the country out of country music......they threw the baby out with the bath water! I would much rather listen to George or Merle 24/7 than all the rest combined since they trashed America's country music! The young people would not know country music if it whacked them in the head with a 12lb sledge hammer!

Everyone here has made such a good point.
