Where did R&B go?!

Question: 1993..12 Play by R Kelly arrives at the local shop... marks the beginning of many markers of R&B's transition through the 90s to where we are today...

the really decent ones actually can take me back to what parents where living through with refreshing sounds and great lyrics (Raheem DeVaughn, Maxwell, Joe..) on majority of the r albums....Aren't mainstream much like conscious rappers.. and the substance in the lyrics in what they reference to ... cant it be more like "For the Love of You" from Isleys on a track today or a "Simply Beautiful" form Al Green? The Feeling on you Booty songs and Akon's renditions of R&B are tiresome sometimes... Agree to Disagree??

What happened to R&B ? What can bring it back in a sense of have a bigger presence in the whole music scene today in America?

It's still here. It's just that sex sells, and you don't have to have a lot of talent to put out an album. I LOVE old school R&B, and there are loads of songs out now that I can dig. But I agree, artists like Akon, Ashanti and Lloyd mess it up for the true talent out there.

Sorry, but I disagree...I definitely prefer latest music, such as Chris brown, Danity Kane, Ne-Yo, Justin Timberake, Craig David, Lloyd, and many more...

i agree because i love those old school songs and at that time they weren't demeaning to woman not to say all the songs are its just that i don't want to here what her p**** look like and how it smells so yes i do think it has change and to tell you the truth i wish it would go back to what it us to be in the old days and just the classics of making love is enough for me and i really don't know how to change it back to the way it use to be because it has gone off track just like hip hop

Old R&B is amazing and is arguably better than new R&B in my opinion but I do have a lot of respect for Ne-Yo & Akon. But people like Lloyd are just crap in my opinion x

maybe you're right, but things change and this is why R&B changed. you gotta get used to with the changes even when you don't agree. perhaps it isn't right, but this is the only way for the world to go on and it doesn't depend on us. we just have to get used to.

I feel you completely ,luckily we have Al Green, The Isley bros.,and all the rest because that's what I mostly listen to,Every once in a while we get a good one from today like Joe,Gerald Levert (r.i.p.) they are few and far in be tween. I am with you all the way ,I love my old school .
