i reccomend a lot of hair bands like firehouse and cinderella and if you want some aging heavy metal my favorites are scorpions, judas priest, and iron maiden
Try Echo and the Bunnymen, their early stuff is awesome, the Alarm, Jesus and Mary chain

Also had a t-shirt with an angel baby smoking a cigarette, which was another one of their albums and it said the words for unlawful carnal knowledge under the baby. I myself am a big fan of faith no more..they were big in the 90's and a pretty off the wall rock band....

The Stooges are the best rock band ever, so I guess that would be a good place to start. Then head towards some T.Rex, Roky Erickson, the Kinks, the MC5, the New York Dolls, the Sonics, the Who, the 13th Floor Elevators, Iggy Pop, the Seeds, which are all rough rockin' badasses all very much worth listening to.
