What are good microphones to record piano?!

Question: I am looking to get a pair of condenser mics to record piano in my home studio. Looking to spend between $500-1000 for the set. They don't have to be good for anything else expect this. Any ideas?

There are some interesting new products in that area.

Check out the AMT line. Here is a stereo pair solution:

Also check out their M40 boundary layer mic. Can be used along with a large diaphragm condenser for stereo.

Also check out the Avenson STO-2, sold in matched pairs:

I have used pairs of large diaphragm condensers, such as U-87, AKG-414, and Audio Technica AT4050. The AT4050 can be had for under $500 each, and is an excellent multi-pattern condenser. I've gotten great results on piano with it. Don't be afraid to use it in omni or figure 8 mode.

Also check out the Peluso CEMC6:

That should get you started...
