Who sang about San Francisco and why did he or they recommend we go there?!

Question: Scott mackenzie?? The lyrics are:
"If you're going to San Francisco
Be sure to wear some flowers in your hair
If you're going to San Francisco
You're gonna meet some gentle people there

For those who come to San Francisco
Summertime will be a love-in there
In the streets of San Francisco
Gentle people with flowers in their hair

All across the nation such a strange vibration
People in motion
There's a whole generation with a new explanation
People in motion people in motion

For those who come to San Francisco
Be sure to wear some flowers in your hair
If you come to San Francisco
Summertime will be a love-in there

If you come to San Francisco
Summertime will be a love-in there"

scott mckenzie for the hippy movement

Scott McKenzie did

tony bennet....the song pictured the scene and life in frisco....course, thats changed since the song came out....

Scott Mckenzie,,`cos the flowers grow so very high,,,

they said to "wear flowers in your hair..."

Scott Mckenzie - 'cuz you'll find some loving people there.

Scott McKenzie and he thought we'd look good if we went there with flowers in our hair

Frank sinatra left his heart there,And the last time i went i left a pair of socks in the hotel.Good ones as well.

Tony Bennett sang " I Left My Heart in San Francisco".

Scott did so you meet people of a certain sort there. wearing flowers in your hair was supposed to help.

Scott McKenzie
Because you would meet some gentle people there.
If your thinking of going.......be sure to wear some flowers in your hair.

Tony Bennett sang that song. He didn't recommend going there, he was just lamenting that he left his heart in the City By the Bay.

Scott McKenzie (among others) recommended the gentle people that are there.

If you're going, wear some flowers in your hair...

well, i dont know, but eric clapton sing a song called san francisco bay blues

Scott Mckenzie, be sur to where some flowers in your haiir.

Scott McKenzie. Not sure about why about going there in the song though sorry.

Frank Zappa.
"Hey punk, where you goin' with that
flower in your hand?
Well, I'm goin' up to Frisco to join a
psychedelic band...."

Well, it was Scott Mackenzie ... 'If you're going to San Francisco, be sure to wear some flowers in your hair ...' and then I heard beloved Eric Burden sing 'Warm San Franciscan Nights'. I have been back to USA in search of that dream and it has all gone. Actually, when you were there, it was cool, but the drug dealers were hard, merciless, and the dream was just a dream ... One of the best commentators I have heard about that era is surprising - Ruby Wax. But you could also ask my friends, Robert, and Robert, who are not in the least bit famous but who are very eloquent about their times ... One of the 'famous' people I know who could talk about that era is the main guy who sang with Country Joe and the Fish. But really, you should ask ordinary people. We certainly weren't famous, but we were there and we were taking note of everything.

scotch and mc donalds or somefink

What's there to live for?
Who needs the peace corps?

Think I'll just DROP OUT
I'll go to Frisco
Buy a wig & sleep
On Owsley's floor

Walked past the wig store
Danced at the Fillmore
I'm completely stoned
I'm hippy & I'm trippy
I'm a gypsy on my own
I'll stay a week & get the crabs &
Take a bus back home
I'm really just a phony
But forgive me
'Cause I'm stoned

Every town must have a place
Where phony hippies meet
Psychedelic dungeons
Popping up every street
GO TO SAN FRANCISCO

How I love ya, How I love ya
How I love ya, How I love ya Frisco!
How I love ya, How I love ya
How I love ya, How I love ya
Oh, my hair is getting good in the back! Every town must have a place
Where phony hippies meet
Psychedelic dungeons
Popping up on every street
GO TO SAN FRANCISCO...

Hotcha!

First I'll buy some beads
And then perhaps a leather band
To go around my head
Some feathers and bells
And a book of Indian lure
I will ask the Chamber Of Commerce
How to get to Height Street
And smoke an awful lot of dope

I will wander around barefoot
I will have a psychedelic gleam in my eye at all times
I will love everyone
I will love the police as they kick the **** out of me on the street
I will sleep...
I will, I will go to a house
That's, that's what I will do
I will go to a house
Where there's a rock roll band
'Cause the groups all live together
And I will join a rock & roll band
I will be their road manager
And I will stay there with them
And I will get the crabs
But I won't care

~Frank Zappa
