uhm i dont think so.
emo basicallli means emotional.
so its emotional mucix.

Emo, yeah basically.
they are a cheap immitation of all the alternative countercultures that came before them (punk, goth, real emo, indie).
The old emo was nothing like what it's become now.

Emo can be considered a subset of punk.
Punk: 70's, angry, extroverted, stiff hair and loud
Goth: 80's (1880's that is :)
Emo: 90's, sad, introverted, flat hair and poetry

Labels by people who are trying to understand but don't really get it.

It's for guys who have hard time getting chicks. They pretend to be bi and in touch with their feelings to get laid.

Yes. Check out f*ck emo by Cheap sex. It's great.

It's punk on estrogen.

For the most part, yes. It's an even more insidious version of the already nauseating trend of pop punk like Sum 41 and Green Day. Women's jeans work well when you're already pumped with estrogen.

depressed punk more like

Emo is a strange mix of Old-school Goth, Electro-pop and pop-punk.

yeah but punks actually believe in something : anarchy, anti-racism. emo are only sissyes, who stole some punk elements and mixed it with goth (who are cooler than emos)

yes

no, they sound completly different. emo can sound like pretty much anything because it's a label, not a genre. and it's only classified by the lyrics, not the sound

punk usually sounds kind of choppy with quick vocals and some shouting.
