I don't think i,ve heard a country version. Bonnie Raitt did a song called Angel from montgomery.

Great song, John Prine wrote it. He recorded an amazing duet with Bonnie Raitt. They performed it together on Austin City Limits on PBS.

I've never heard either of the two singers previously mentioned sing this song but I do remember John Denver recording it.
