Has emo/scene become the new bubblegum?!
Question: I remember when I was a kid, the bubblegum pop stuff that I LOVED was made fun of all the time. lol. Now instead of the Backstreet Boys and N Sync being the fake commercialized BS, it's Fall Out Boy and MCR. I can point out many parallels.
I still like both, hehe.
Is that what it is? Long ago, only cool people listened to emo. Now they are cheesy and for little girls. Am i destined to always listen to uncool but popular music? (lmfao)

But I remember those days too...now striving to be so-called "different" is the big thing.
But if everyone's different, is everyone really different? Or is trying to be different making you not different since everyone else is doing the same thing?

Are you guys kidding? Fallout Boy etc. aren't real "emo" or anything, they're pop-punk. They're lyrics are catchy, sure, but if you look into them; they're just about making money, making fun of their fans etc.
EDIT: haha, i agree with Jake! barely anyone on Y!A knows what REAL scene is, they think it's all about FOB, MCR, hair extensions and leg warmers.

I'm not sure I would call it "emo," but yes, I definitely think groups that are appealing to many teenagers right now include Fall Out Boy, My Chemical Romance, the All-American Rejects, Boys Like Girls, Paramore, etc.
These bands aren't really emo in any way, but ,yes, its the new bubblegum. All the scene kids probably don't even know where the word emo came from.
You have taken the word "emo" out of context. Emo refers to a highly emotional form of music (Hardcore Emotional). A sound that came about out of the 80s Hardcore genre. The bands you listed, Fall Out Boy and My Chemical Romance, are not Emo. They are merely power pop/rock. Nothing more. The fact that they broke into the mainstream isn't surprising. Their pop sound is easily marketable. (And has been)
And what do you mean by long ago? Like 2002? That wasn't that far away. It isn't uncool to like any form of music.
And I'm not sure what exactly you mean by cool people. Do you mean scensters? Don't follow scensters no matter what. They don't know what they are talking about. They probably don't know anything worth while about music. Don't listen to them. Just be yourself.
