their live shows have a certain electric energy reminiscent of the fire in U2's younger days, except more captivating and experimental. Their drummer, Darren King, is off the chain.

this is one of their percussive jams at the end of their song "break the same". darren takes his bass drum, throws it into the crowd, and then GETS ON TOP OF IT, and then gets back on the stage to bang away at it with the rest of the band members <3

you might like the new One Republic CD "Dreaming Out Loud", but I think it's a little too poppy. do you also recognize their album title to be in one of U2's best songs? yeah, that's right. the chorus of ACROBAT from Achtung Baby. =)

ps - you guys should go see the new U2 3D movie being released january 2008 in 3D theaters. it's the best of their south american vertigo tour dates!!!
U2 has JUST re-released "The Joshua Tree," this time with an additional CD of some terrific B-sides. "Spanish Eyes" and "Waves of Sorrow" are two of the best. I believe that some special copies even have reprints of some of Bono's handwritten lyrics.

I know this is not a CD, (and you may well already know this) but this summer U2 also released a DVD of their Mexico City Popmart tour. The special edition also has some neat bonus videos, including the version of "Staring at the Sun" that was directed by Edge's belly-dancer wife.
