Do you wear your concert clothes for the dress rehearsal?!

Question: Orchestra dress rehearsal the day before the concert... Does that mean we need to wear the clothes that we've been told to wear at the concert at the dress rehearsal, too??

NO! don't show up in uniform! u'll be sooooo embarrased, trust me i know... i learn things the hard way. :'( good luck at your concert!! play hard. <3 pomlvr

Absolutely. A dress rehearsal is basically a rehearsal except, everybody is in "dress." You need to practice at this rehearsal like you are actually performing. If they didn't want you to dress like it was the actual performance, it would just be a "rehearsal", not a "dress rehearsal."

WRONG!

A dress rehearsal is a run-through as it will be at the performance and usually refers to opera productions where all costumes, scenery and props can be finally tried out. The orchestra will NOT be in concert dress for this unless it is open to the public or used as part of a camera shoot or TV rehearsal as well.

oh ya get 'em nice and sweaty so you repell all adoring fans.

As another poster stated, it does not mean you wear your concert attire for the rehearsal. "Dress rehearsal" just implies that it will be a full run-through of everything to be performed at the upcoming concert. Unless you're doing a theatre or opera production (and are an actor in the show, as opposed to in the orchestra), you don't have to be in your concert attire.

NOOO! You don't wear concert attire for anything except the concert itself.
