What tools do a beginning hip-hop producers needs?!

Question: If you are a beginner than there's a lot you will need to know. Recording software for your home computer is the way to go and nowadays its quite cheap and sometimes even FREE!! The painstaking fun is figuring out which software to choose. Its almost like deciding on what type of car to buy, they all basically have 4 wheels and an engine but they come in hundreds of styles and colors. As a Producer there is a basic knowledge you will need that will help you understand the Music Business and I have included a Newsletter link at the bottom for you to read.

So here's a list of music software that you might look into getting that will come in handy for a guy of your craft, I used them all so I have my favorites:

Pro Tools
Cakewalk SONAR
Cubase
Apple Logic
Nuendo
Wavelab
Sony Sound Forge
Vegas Pro
Acid
Cool Edit
Fruity Loops

You can Google search these choices and see who's selling what or just go on eBay and save some money. Rappers tend to use "Fruity Loops, Cubase, Sonar and Acid" the most and you just need to get the basic versions of these. They all have learning curves but a week of messin around will take care of that.

Get you a descent condenser mic and a small cheap amp/interface with USB or Firewire capabilities. You can get the interface for less than $100 online.

Plugins to these softwares are quite important, for they allow you to really mix and also make special affect sounds. I've included a link to get those for dirt cheap! You can also make some money on the side reselling them.
