Bucky Covington's "Different World". Can you relate?!

Question: Things have changed so remarkably.
I actually had to lift 45's off my broken record player because the record changer didn't work.

3 channels on the T.V. (and like Foxworthy said, "If the president was on, your night was shot!!")
we played outside, (Our parents had to practically BEAT us to come in for dinner), and because we DID'NT WANT TO come inside, we'd drink from a garden hose.
We had the Pledge of allegiance and PRAYER'S
(Something I STILL don't understand, (They'll teach sex education, but leave your prayer book at home!!??
sorry, I'll quit now, thanks for letting me vent
caveman

I remember when gas was only 50 cents a litre now it's a 1.10 for a liter. When I was 10 I went to the corner store to buy smokes for my parents and they knew my parents so they give me the smokes. I always played outside all the time. Even when it was -30 c. well if my parents let me.

The sad thing is I'm only 28 and STILL can relate to most of the song. Yeah the "blue" laws were over before I was born(stores being closed) but a lot of the rest was there. Back when I was a kid it was a punishment to not be allowed outside, I think parents punish kids by sending them outdoors now. People have gotten way too protective. Hey if a kid isn't good enough to make a team let them either work at it and get better(Jordan didn't make his HS Basketball team) or let them find something else to do. Don't just make a new team for those bad players.

Ya, I can relate.....but i hate the song and bucky..his voice is annoying

Definatly! It's a cute song & he's one of the 'newbies' I hope makes it awhile. You are right Caveman, sent out to play after breakfast & if the parents didn't see ya till suppertime, no one worried. Barefoot all summer & don't dare get your church clothes dirty. Skint knees were no cause for alarm, parents knew when a spankin' was called for but were always there for questions. You could hug just about anyone you knew & no one thought it was nasty. I could go on, but get too sad.
