Question: Hank Jr sang a song about something that happened to his dad. Story was Hank used to do jokes in between his songs. He would do the same jokes every night. Well one night the person who opened for Hank decided he was going to do all of Hanks jokes. So he did. When Hank came out he had no jokes to tell the audience which made him mad.. after the show Hank was so furious he fired everyone along with stage hands that did not even work for him. The song is "The Ballad Of Hank Williams" and I believe that Sammy Pruett was on the song with him. and says yeah but come to think of it you fired my *** in 1972

I do stand corrected in that it was Don Helms that co-wrote the song. I was remembering the fact that Sammy Pruitt and Jerry Rivers were mentioned in the song. Thanks for refreshing my memory. It ain't as good as it used to be.
