Yeah...all of a sudden it is cool to have Metallica and Foo Fighters, Smashing Pumpkins, Linkin Park and Madonna (that's right Madonna who he had a huge moral problem with in the 80s but now she's OK 'cos she has a Kabala braclet!!!? wtf?!)
Regardless of his message it just seems REALLY hypocritical of him to be using rock bands for his own aim when he was a huge moral demon in the 80s!

I will make the answer simple. He is an American politician and therefore will be a flip-flopper. Period. They all do it and those who say they don't are liars.

On the surface it would seem so. Yeah. But I think 2 things:
People change & so did the rock/ popular music landscape since the 80s.
The acts he rallied against in the 80s were pretty edgy in terms of sexuality &/or violent imagery. We've come a ways since then & I guess the 'Filthy 15" might seem tame by today's standards.
But next to say, WASP, the Foo Fighters are harmless.
Get it right: it was his WIFE, Tipper, not Al.
But then, I learned a long time ago haters are going to hate whether they have facts or not. It's all in the perception.
Every generation is shocked by the one that follows. Tipper actually PLAYED in a rock band in her youth, but once she became a parent, newer rock lyrics began to shock her. So she started the PMRC; I don't know how much Al was really involved, but he's a fan of rock music and has every right to support it now.
Don't forget, the kids who listened to "Mister Sandman" and "Sh-Boom" are the parents of kids who listened to KISS and the Sex Pistols, both of which seem tame now compared to NIN's "Closer." Every generation shocks the one before.

That concert was the biggest joke. Can't remember what network carried it but I know the ratings were horrendous! One of the major networks carries the last big night and it was the lowest rating for the year from any of the major networks. I thought that was hilarious!

Yes, it is very hypocritical. Al Gore is a huge phony, right up there with John Kerry. These guys will say anything to get people on their side. I try not to listen to one word of senceless drivel that comes out of Gore's mouth, that way I'm not any dumber for having listened to him.
