Were Pink Floyd, just special effects psychedelia?!

Question: Just pretend stuff with the flashing lights and the show biz cheap gypsy ground circus? Not a life style, just a fad?

the fact that you are even asking this question demonstrates that their music wasn't a fad. pink floyd's music was ahead of it's time and innovative. over-engineered? of course. they even admit that. but most of the sound effects, etc. were just ways to move from one song to another without just fading the sound to zero and then starting another.

they were (are) some of the greatest contributors to the genre of rock and roll in the 70s and they maintained their integrity in the 80s.

what does a "lifestyle" have to do with music anyway? If you are thinking grunge or hip-hop, think marketing, not music.

In the 70s pink Floyd was voted one of the best bands in the U.S. and England.

Whoa! Pink Floyd was far from a fad!
They did have special effects in their concerts (not like I've been to one) and The Wall was even preformed as a play, but it was always about the music. Take away all the flashing lights and you've still got the magic in all their music.

Watching 'The Wall' should answer your question in regards to lifestyle. As for inferring that some of the greatest bands ever were only pretend, take a look around you at a good majority of the artists playing today......now that's pretend stuff. Fads fade away with the time......legends are still talked about decades later.
