Who Was The First 'One Hit Wonder'...?!

Question: ...as far as chart hits are concerned? And does anyone know who coined the phrase?

Answers: ...as far as chart hits are concerned? And does anyone know who coined the phrase?

It doesn't say who it was but it did say this....

The term was first used by the "Guinness Book of Hit Singles" from the 1970s, and originally referred strictly to those artists whose first chart action was: "a number one hit, and then nothing else, ever."

I don't know who was the first, but the most successful "one hit wonder" is French singer Patrick Hernandez with "Born to be alive". The subject of a recent French documentary, he never made another record and lives very comfortably off the Royalties he earns each time it is played.

Probably Henry VIII who is widely thought to have written "Greensleeves" . (This has not been proven of course)

Pachabel the composer.
