Marty Robbins was a licensed NASCAR driver having driven in 35 races from 1966 until 1982.He was a regular driver at the Nashville Speedway and that is his reason for hosting the "Midnight" show at the Grand Old Opry,so he could drive his racecar on Saturday nights.
